Judging Process

At InkScape's Rooms of the Year Awards, transparency and fairness are our top priorities. We want to provide creators with a clear understanding of how the judging process works to ensure that all rooms have an equal opportunity to shine

The judging period for the Rooms of the Year Awards will be from December 17th to December 22nd.

During this time, our panel of experienced judges will carefully evaluate each room submission based on a set of criteria.

Criteria

Rooms will be judged on several key criteria, including but not limited to:

  • Creativity and Originality
    How unique and innovative is the room's concept and design? Is it a fresh and engaging experience for players?
  • Visual and Audio Design
    Judges will assess the quality of the room's visual and audio elements. This includes aesthetics, atmosphere, and the effective use of sound.
  • Gameplay and Interaction
    For interactive rooms, gameplay mechanics, puzzles, challenges, and player engagement will be considered. How enjoyable and immersive is the gameplay?
  • Community Impact
    We will also take into account the room's impact on the Rec Room community. Does it foster positive interactions and social experiences? Is it a space where players want to return?
  • Technical Achievement
    In the case of Rec Room Studio rooms, technical innovation and advanced features will be recognized.

Scoring

Rooms will receive scores in each of these categories, with a maximum total score of 10 points per category. The judging panel will consist of experienced creators and community members who are passionate about Rec Room and its creative potential.

Fair and Impartial

The judging process will be conducted impartially, with no biases or preferences. Judges will evaluate each room solely on its merits and alignment with the established criteria.

Top Selections

The rooms that receive the highest scores in each category will be selected as finalists and announced during the awards ceremony.
